What Are The Advantages Of Blogging?

Many may say that with the rise of social media, blogs aren’t as popular as they used to be and perhaps no longer needed. However, blogging is still one of the main tools that would help you establish your business and set you apart from your competition. In this article, we want to show you why blogs are still very important and why it shouldn’t be looked at as ‘something from the past’.

What’s a blog?

To know how important a blog is, you have to know what it is. A blog website is where contents get updated regularly. A blog could also be part of a particular website by having its own section. Many people may confuse this with a “typical” website; however, the main difference is that websites are not updated as often as blogs are. Another significant difference is that blogs focus on content more than a website would – (which are done through blog posts).

Blog posts allows your audience to comment and share their opinion about what you have written, which can create a conversation between them and yourself. You may tell yourself this is not different to social media, however while the main goal for social media posts is to engage with people about content, a blog is mainly to create content that’s in relation to your website. This is why it’s important to see them as two different methods that work well together.

What are the advantages of Blogs? Here’s 3 good points:

· Good for SEO: One of the greatest advantages of having a blog, is the fact that it is very good for SEO. This is due to the fact that you’re updating blog posts regularly (hopefully with relevant topics and image/videos that’s relevant to your audience), which makes a huge difference to how your page would perform on search engines as people engage to your content.

· A way to make you different to your competition – When you have a blog, you have the opportunity to get to know your audience better and to stand out by continually letting them know what you’re all about. Because you’re mirroring what’s on your website, it gives you an opportunity to promote your identity and your brand’s ethos to show why you are different to your competitors and what makes you stand out.

· Cost effective – Blogging is one of the few ways you can promote yourself for free. As an organic technique, your investment will be in the form of time and effort rather than money. For such a ‘cheap way’ of promoting yourself and being in constant communication with your audience, blogging gives you the opportunity to convert the traffic you create to leads.

To conclude, it’s very evident that blogs as still very much in the mix when it comes to promoting your business digitally. It’s a great way of staying relevant to your audience and making sure you’re relating to them. Whilst many people believe this isn’t necessary based on the fact that social media provides the same, blogs could be viewed as an extension to social media platforms and websites that doesn’t only increase traffic, but also gives you the opportunity to have more content that relates directly to your website which could be used on social media as well.
